Cleanse Your Body with an Abdominal Detox Massage Through the use of various healing modules and extensive training in holistic/alternative medicine, Dr. Buathon Thienarrom has developed her own healing technique called Zen Na Tai: state of freedom and emptiness. Her work helps harmonize the physical, emotional and energetic levels while helping clients become more self-aware. The technique integrates various aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine and focuses on the Ren channel, a meridian that stores yin energy deep down in the body. Each healing session is adapted to individuals depending on their health condition. This unique technique treatment primarily focuses on the abdominal area which is the centre of chi or energy flow in the body that also flows through the internal organs linked to individual emotions. As an area where stress, tension and negative emotions accumulate and congest, when this area is knotted up, the whole energy of the body is blocked which results in vital energy stagnating. This slowly weakens the internal organs and decreases energy and vitality. The chest area is focused upon for improving digestion and breathing, while the head and scalp area releases cranial tension and improves concentration. Stimulating lymphatic flow, the massage helps detoxify the body to get rid of toxins and negativity, brings comfort and relief to the abdomen and induces a deeper state of relaxation and peace. Benefits of a Zen Na Tai treatment: • Improves digestive system, such as irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, constipation, and eliminates the toxin of gastrointestinal tract Addressing the core of health problems and triggering a psychosomatic healing response, a Zen Na Tai healing session also involves breathing techniques, posture analysis and Taoist Qi massage. During the session, advice will be given on nutrition, visualization and self-manipulation. After speaking to Dr. Thienarrom about my health condition, she informed me that a course of treatment usually includes three sessions. This was my first time having an internal organ massage that uses a technique of directly massaging the navel and abdominal area, and I found the first session very soothing and relaxing. However in the subsequent treatments I found it painful at times, especially near lymphatic areas. Dr. Thienarrom also deeply massaged muscles in the chest area and taught me to inhale deeply to alleviate hay fever symptoms. After each session, I usually felt lighter and energized. In addition, the facilities at The Oriental Spa features Experience showers, a vitality pool, tepidarium chairs, an ice fountain, a Zen relaxation room, a laconium and an amethyst crystal steam room for a very relaxing experience. Guests are encouraged to arrive 60 minutes prior to their scheduled treatment. Esther Ng
