The Advent of the Aquarian Age There are a few things going on here, the two most significant being: 1. The Advent of the Aquarian Age. (Part 1) 2. The activity of the three transpersonal planets i.e. The ingress of Pluto into Capricorn to prepare the way for this new period. And the strange dance of Uranus and Neptune as they transit each other's signs. (Part 2) Let me state clearly before we go any further that Astrology is just a concept, a reality tunnel. It is a grid for understanding the underlying reality and is just one among many conceptual grids. Take from it what resonates with you. Discard the rest. Words will always fall short. "The way that can be spoken is not the way."
Cycles within cycles within cycles Astrology is all about cycles. The fastest/smallest is the lunar cycle of around 28 days. The biggest/longest cycle is governed by the precession of the Equinoxes and gives us the Great Astrological Ages which last around 2000 years each. We are currently on the cusp of a new age. We are moving from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius. The scheduled official launch of the Aquarian age is 2012. We have been feeling the influence of the incoming Aquarian ray since the 1950s. This is easy to explain as follows: Each of the 12 signs of the zodiac occupies 30 degrees of the 360 degree zodiacal belt. The Sun moves at a rate of around one degree a day and thus takes around 30 days to transit a sign. If you are born with your Sun at 29 degrees of one sign then we would say you are on the cusp of the sign that follows and that the influence of that sign will already be making itself felt. Now extend this concept to the 2000 year cycle of the great Astrological age and you can calculate that the cusp period will be just over 60 years.
A vast change in consciousness and in society is taking place. Everyone feels the effects of this on a personal level, and everyone is looking for a way to deal with it. This shift in awareness has created a sense of urgency, the feeling that everything is speeding up. The speed of the technological revolution and sheer volume of information available through the computerized "information highway" is overwhelming. Under the demands and pressures of modern life many people are living in a state of constant overwhelm and low level anxiety, with the old parasympathetic fight flight response permanently activated. People have become small, limited and egotistical, squeezed to the point of only physical existence, a fraction of their full potential. We have seen a great increase in depression and fatigue related psychological and psychosomatic illnesses, high levels of stress and immune related diseases, as well as insomnia and a general feeling of loss of personal control and powerlessness. Add to this the information overload, lack of time through increased personal and social demands, and the identity crisis created by the fact that the technological revolution has shrunk the planet and broken down all the old secure identities of home, country, values, customs, and substituted unnatural urban rhythms for the rhythms of nature.
1. Free Flow of Information Aquarius is an air sign, which produces intellectuals, scientists, inventors etc. The Aquarian age is the age of information, where all information/knowledge is freely available to every individual. Uranus, the planet given to the sign Aquarius, rules computer technology. All information is now available at the push of a button, or the click of a mouse. One no longer has to seek knowledge or information. By contrast during the Piscean age much knowledge and information (especially esoteric knowledge) was closely guarded or kept secret and only revealed to an initiated elite. This allowed the elite to maintain control through a political and religious hierarchy to manipulate the masses.
2. You are God The Aquarian Age is the age of God within. One of the prophets of the last century, Robert Nestor Marley, exposed the hypocrisy of organized religions and summed up the Aquarian Creed succinctly with his lyric: "We sick an' tired of-a your ism-skism game, The point being this: There is only One Universal Consciousness (variously referred to as Pure Awareness, Buddha Nature, Higher Self, God, Christ Consciousness, etc.), which plays itself out through all the individual body/mind mechanisms, populating the planet at any given time. You are that consciousness 100 per cent right here and now. You are not separate from it. The illusion of separation is caused simply by you wrongly identifying yourself as the mind/body mechanism, localized in time and space, instead of the vast Universal Consciousness which empowers the mechanism. Because you are not separate you do not need an external saviour or an intermediary to get you there. There is nowhere to go. No search, no path, no journey. You are already at the destination. And because you are God itself, you are perfectly whole and complete right now. There is no question of you being sinful or needing saving. Such concepts, along with withholding information, are the manipulative ploys of the Piscean age, designed to disempower the individual and maintain control in the hands of an initiated elite. The concept that you are sinful in essence and need redeeming is a direct reversal of the ultimate truth, which is that your essential nature is good, is God. There is no external God. The dualistic view of life no longer works in the Aquarian age. All is God. All is one. You are the living, breathing, working God. You are pure, right here and now. There is no need to purify. The big organized world religions (which began around 2000 years ago) are a relic of the Piscean age and will eventually become obsolete as the Aquarian age kicks in. The free flow of information on the world wide web daily reveals the tricks and manipulations of those that try to fool the masses. Power is being delivered back into the hands of the individual.
3. Energy of Awareness More and more people are waking up to the realization that their true identity is infinite pure awareness, energy and bliss, one with all of life. With the knowledge of your true identity as pure spirit, an energy being, fearless, deathless, infinite, comes the end of all seeking. There is no need to seek information or enlightenment. You are already a light being. The task now is to live it and express it in action, and to help others to wake up to the truth of their spiritual identity. The realization "I am that I am" cuts at the root of all stress. With the deep conviction; I am not just this body/mind mechanism, I am an eternal deathless being, the fear of death, the mother of all fears dissolves, and the whole being relaxes and breathes easy at the deepest level. This inner stance of absolute fearlessness is the key factor in staying relaxed and dealing with the speed, chaos and insanity of this cusp period.
4. Freedom Freedom is the Aquarian watchword. What is the ultimate freedom that grants all other freedoms? It is simply to free yourself from all false identification of mind and body. Once you are free of that and know who you are, you are really free. All wisdom, all bliss is yours, for you are that. Then you understand that it is one Universal Consciousness playing out through all the forms. The mechanism mind/body/ego is a channel, a conduit. The creative process is in constant process.
5. Intuition We have an overload of material technology and information. We now need a spiritual technology to balance it out. We need to develop wisdom to use the information and knowledge creatively, instead of destroying ourselves and the planet we live on. More and more people will embrace yogic practices and develop a meditative mind, a neutral mind, beyond the polarities of the positive and negative minds, which provides a silent space for the intuitive voice that speaks from beyond the mind to be heard. There is no longer any need to hustle to survive. Those who do will die suffering in the process. No need to go out after things. Develop the meditative mind and sit back in quiet trust in your own intuitive guidance, the inner guru, and see what comes to you, watch the synchronicities unfold as life becomes an easy effortless flow. These are the true rewards of a regular yogic practice. The benefits spread out into all of life and all of life becomes a guided, protected intuitive flow; the right words, the right answer, solution or opportunity appearing in each moment.
6. Experience This is the age of experience. Each individual is his own scientist experimenting in the lab of his own infinite being. People need a technology that works. They need to experience for themselves that there is something they can do that will make a difference in their lives, heal their pain and disease, create prosperity and success, truly relax and feel happy with who they are. And those people that can give an experience will be respected. Everyone will be known by their actions. You have got to be real, straightforward and honest, because every action can now be traced.
7. Universal Brotherhood/Sisterhood The recognition that behind the various forms is the same One Consciousness spells the end of racism, tribalism etc. Universal brotherhood/sisterhood is another mantra of the Aquarian age. All boundaries dissolve, racial, religious, gender, political etc. As technology makes communication more and more sophisticated, planet earth becomes "smaller", and intermarriage of racial groups and sharing of cultural traditions become more and more common.
8. Group Energy and Service to Humanity Aquarius is about the energy of the group and the law of synergy that states that the energy created by the group is greater than the sum of its parts. Witness the increasing incidence of alternative groups (yes Facebook included) that are springing up to question the old order. These groups are founded on the ideal that every individual supports the empowerment of every other individual in the group and that they come together in a spirit of selfless service to Humanity and Nature. This is in stark contrast to the old Piscean concept of a Pope/Hierophant type figure at the top of the pyramid, a corrupt hierarchy of an initiated elite below and a disempowered mass underneath.
