Going with the Flow I had an amazing experience the other day when I went for a Craniosacral Therapy session. Thinking that the technique is all about the skull and the neck, I was pleasantly surprised when the practitioner, Silke Miller, showed me that Craniosacral Therapy is about more than just treating the bones of the skull. Because everything in our body is interlinked, every subtle movement affects the entire body, enabling mental, emotional as well as physical healing. Silke Miller, who draws from 13 years of training and clinical experience in Craniosacral Therapy, Reiki and Medical Intuitive Work, places her hands lightly on key areas or acupressure points of the patient’s body to tune into them to detect any irregularities and gently moves its energy to restore healing within the body. Tension is relieved, restricted nerves are eased and bones are realigned, as Miller goes with the flow of the patient’s energy, moving her hands to areas that she feels guided to. The session is deeply moving, and a sense of relaxation can be felt throughout the entire treatment. Furthermore, the relief of tension extends into everyday life. However, I’m also told that sometimes the benefits are not immediately noticeable but become apparent after returning to your familiar environment. During a typical session (approx. one hour) the client remains fully clothed and lies on his back whilst the practitioner works on bringing the body back into alignment. Craniosacral Therapy can address a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including migraines, neck and back pain, bronchitis, arthritis, sinusitis, tinnitus, depression, digestive problems, menstrual pain and insomnia. Silke Miller’s clients range from infants to pregnant women, and especially people who have already tried everything else to alleviate certain pains and dysfunctions. Her approach is to improve her patients’ lives on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Vivienne Tang Silke Miller gives one-on-one Craniosacral Therapy sessions at White Lotus Centre in Hong Kong.
