Discovering the Treasures of Ancient Cultures

What can we learn from ancient civillizations? The Source Asia speaks to Kathy Chan and Maxine Wetherup from the Organization of Multicultural Education on General Anthropology.

You’ll be holding 4 lectures and 8 classes on the Treasures of Universal Wisdom. It’s a big topic. What can one expect and will you dedicate each class to a different theme? Can you name the themes?

The two topics of “Understanding your Dreams” and “Self-healing with Cosmic Energy” for the 4 lectures will provide an introduction to the wealth of knowledge of this ancient universal wisdom.

For “Understanding your Dreams” lectures on October 11, you will learn what are dreams, why do we dream, the different types of dreams and their importance in our lives, some techniques on how to remember them, interpret them and use them to help us live a more conscious and fulfilling life.

For “Self-healing with Cosmic Energy” lectures on October 18, you will learn about what is hermetic astrology, our intimate connections with the 12 constellations of the universe beyond the birth influence, the healing powers and special magic of these constellations, and how we can harvest their energy for our health and develop our human potentials.

We offer classes structured in 3 levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced to cover a wide spectrum of this universal wisdom that are essential for living a conscious and meaningful life. Each class is dedicated to a specific topic and explains techniques on how to experience and explore these concepts for our individual benefits.

Here are some themes in our studies: Revolutionary Psychology, Healing and Regeneration, Understanding our Dreams, The Science of Meditation, Chakras and the Sacred Kundalini, The Parallel Dimensions, The Cosmic Laws, The Origin of Man and Creation, Alchemy, The Main Course of Illness, Hermetic Astrology, Anthropology.

The teachings are based on ancient cultures, such as the Egyptians, the Mayans, etc. How much have we steered away from this valuable information? How much of that should we bring back into our everyday life?

We have lost a tremendous amount of wisdom from these ancient cultures. Our way of life has changed greatly with much emphasis on materialism and less on human and personal relations. Modern technology has steered us into more mechanical beings with more interactions with machines than humans and nature. We need to strike a balance and learn to turn inward to understand ourselves and spend time to experience nature and all living things, and to live the life we are here for. The ancient civilizations knew how to do it and we have much to learn from them.

What sort of fundamental questions will you address during the classes?

We would address fundamental questions such as: Who am I ?; Where Do We Come From? ; What is the Purpose of Life? ; What is Beyond the Material World and Death?; and How Can We Live a Fulfilled Life? ; throughout the different levels of classes.

Will the classes include meditation or other kind of exercises?

Yes, the classes will include meditation and other practical sessions such as; relaxation, how to quiet the mind, reduce stress, capture cosmic energies to improve health, awaken the chakras, understand dreams, detach from negative emotions, etc.

What is your take on 2012?

There are many prophecies about the end of the world and 2012 from different ancient cultures. This is one of the topics of our classes which explains the meanings of ancient prophetic symbols and what may happen in the future. We are planning to give a public lecture on 2012 in January of the new year.

“Know thyself” seems to be one of the key lessons in this course. Can you elaborate?

“Know thyself” implies a revolutionary psychology where we learn how to analyze, understand and dissolve negative elements, such as: anger, impatience, pride, self-pity, resentment, sadness, fear, worries and stress. These negative states manipulate our mind, waste our energy, and poison our lives. When we learn to be master of our thoughts and emotions, the result is inner peace and harmony.

The teachings are mainly based on the research of Dr Samael Aun Weor. He was an anthropologist and sociologist. Can you tell us a little bit more about him?

Dr. Samael Aun Weor has dedicated his life to doing research, teaching and practicing Universal Wisdom. His great achievement was to synthesize all this immense knowledge found in the ancient cultures. He was already practicing meditation as a young child and started to do serious research on ancient civilizations at an early age of 14. He started a school of Universal Wisdom in Mexico City in 1950, written more than 60 books, and given hundreds of lectures during his life.

Can people attend individual classes?

Yes, you can attend individual classes during the first 8 weeks. However, we highly encourage taking all 8 lectures in order as they are designed to build upon one another. The drop in fee is $200 per class, while taking all 8 classes is $1200.
