Hands-On Healing Training

The Barbara Brennan School of Healing has been training healers for over 25 years and is the only school of its kind that offers a Bachelor of Science in healing, as well as an in-depth 4-year course in energy healing and the psychodynamics of energy consciousness. Vivienne Tang speaks to Carolyn Hansen about the teachings.

How long does it take to complete the Barbara Brennan Professional Studies Diploma and the Bachelor of Science Degree?

The Diploma in Barbara Brennan Professional Studies and the Bachelor of Science Degree each take 4 years to complete. Students can choose which they prefer. For the Bachelor of Science degree a student would do all the healing studies done by the students who are receiving the Diploma, plus additional studies. The additional studies are through an on-line university with which the Barbara Brennan School of Healing has made arrangements. That enables the student to take the other courses, for example in math and English, which are required by the state of Florida for a Bachelor of Science Degree.

The Brennan healing studies consist of attending school in person five times during each school year for about one week each time, at school locations in Florida, Japan or Austria. Between the class weeks, the student does homework, which includes practicing healing skills and writing up reports on healings, reading assigned materials and writing homework about them. All students also agree to have 18 sessions of therapy, with a licensed or school approved psychotherapist, each school year. This provides support to the student to healing their personal issues enabling them when they graduate to provide a safe space for their clients to heal. Each school year, during the 5 school weeks, students learn healing skills and techniques, learn ethics and how to create professional healing practices, explore and develop their creativity, and share in personal process and healing with their classmates.

During the school weeks the students sometimes meet in small class groups of 20 with one or two teachers, or in larger groups with their whole class and entire teaching team for their year of study, and sometimes as the entire school.

What can one expect from the studies?

The studies provide a unique process for learning healing skills and personal development. At the end of the 4 years a Brennan Healing Science Practitioner can modulate the frequency of energy they use in healing to any of the frequencies on the first 7 levels of the Human Energy System (aura). They can also track what is changing in the client’s energy field or physical body during the healing.

The 1st year of study teaches the student how to ground themselves and to regulate their chakras and aura so that the energy that flows through the healer from the Universal Energy Field will be clear. They also learn healing skills including the Chelation, which balances and clears the entire energy field of the client and supports the client’s chakras in functioning in the best way. They also learn other skills like spine cleaning, brain balancing and clearing stagnant energy from the 2nd and 4th levels of the client’s Universal Energy Field. In the first year the students explore their relationship with themselves.

In the 2nd year they learn to heal past life energy holdings in the 4th level of the client’s energy field and their personal work focuses on relationships with others.

In the 3rd year they learn how to hold a divine frequency so that angels and guides can come through the healer’s hands to heal the client. They also learn to repair the energetic cord connections between their clients and others. Their personal work is on their relationship with the divine.

In the 4th year they learn how to hold and heal the client’s Hara level, where the Dan Tien is located. This level of pure intention is the base on which the energy field and the physical body is constructed. They learn to do long distance healings and also produce a research paper related to healing. In the fourth year they also write up a case report on at least 12 healings with one client and present an oral report to a Dean or senior teacher. This process deepens the student’s skills and supports their personal healing. In the 4th year each student steps into his or her unique healership.

Throughout the four years of study the students explore and expand their high sense perception. That is their ability to receive information kinesthetically, through guidance, intuition, images on their mind screen, or through sounds, taste and smell.

There are many specific healing skills taught in the school. Graduates are more creative, healthier, more grounded, connected with self, others and the divine and also skilled in healing.

There are several centres around the world. How many are there and where?

The original Barbara Brennan School of Healing has been operating in the US for 25 years, it is currently located in Miami, Florida. The second school is in Europe, in the picturesque spa resort of Bad Ischl, Austria. The third school is in Kazusa Akademia Park in Chiba, Japan, located an hour’s drive from Tokyo, Japan. The school in Japan opened in 2007.

Is the workshop that you will be holding at the Shakti Healing Circle in Hong Kong (Fundamentals of Brennan Healing Science) a preparation for the degrees?

On Friday I will present a 2-hour PowerPoint talk which explains the functioning of the Universal Energy Field and other dimensions of the human being, as taught in the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. It will also introduce how people use their Universal Energy Fields in emotional defense. I will introduce psychological characterology as taught in Brennan training, and show how this is held in the physical body and Universal Energy Field. It will include images of a Brennan Healing. The Friday night talk provides a very good base for the rest of the weekend and will also include some experiential exercises and discussion. It is open to public, so some will attend only on Friday and others will attend the entire weekend.

The workshop (Saturday and Sunday) provides training in a variety of skills and healing techniques that are taught in the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. The skills are those used to prepare the healer and the healer's field in order to allow clear energy to flow to the client from the universal energy field that supports us. These skills include grounding energetically in the earth, clearing and charging one's chakras, clearing one's energy field and aligning the Hara. The healing techniques include the Chelation, which is taught in the first year and practiced throughout the Brennan training. The healer starts at the client's feet and moves to hand positions going up the body and chakras. This healing balances the patient's energy, clears blocks, charges chakras and helps in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. Participants will practice this on each other and we will do two healings on Saturday afternoon and two healings on Sunday so that each participant will have an opportunity each day to practice the Chelation and also an opportunity on the same day to receive the Chelation healing. That means two opportunities to give the healing and two opportunities to experience it during the weekend.

Participants also learn how to clear stagnant energy from the 2nd level of the client's field and a technique called brain balancing, as well as the technique for closing or ending a Chelation healing.

Through experiential exercises during the weekend the workshop participants explore and expand their high sense perception, which may be their ability to receive information kinesthetically, through guidance, intuition, images on their mind screen, or through sounds, taste and smell.

How is Brennan healing different compared to other hands-on healing techniques, such as Reiki or Sekhem?

While I have not studied Reiki or Sekhem, from what I understand of those techniques, Brennan Healing Science includes all the benefits of Reiki and Sekhem and offers additional techniques and skills because of the healer’s ability to focus, modulate and track energy and to receive information. Like Sekhem it includes past life healings and cellular and molecular healings. It also includes cord healings of the energy cords from the chakras to others in ones life, whether living or deceased and whether human or animal. It includes frequencies of energy that go beyond those of Reiki. I understand from a colleague who teaches both Brennan Healing Science and Reiki that Reiki appears to utilize the higher frequencies of divine energy, (any or perhaps all of levels 5, 6 and 7 in the Universal Energy Field) however Brennan Healing Science utilizes those, plus the frequencies for the physical body (level 1), emotional relationship to self (level 2), mental aspects (level 3) and emotional relationship with others and past life holdings (level 4).
