Exploring the Secrets of the Aura Karim, a frequent visiting practitioner since the early 1990s, has explored the secrets of auras for over twenty years. To him an aura represents the energy that we give out. “Everybody has energy and everybody gives some out,” he says. “For example, sometimes you may have found a person has stood close to you but not spoken to you or touched you, and they are not close enough for you to feel their body heat, but you just know that somebody is there. In that case, that person was entering your aura and you became aware of his presence unconsciously. “In reality, we create our auras every moment. An aura doesn’t tend to change much very fast. It is simply an extension of oneself. To me, an aura is a wonderful thing, but it is not something to be treated as separate. Some people say I want to have a better aura. But the best thing to do is to make yourself better. Your aura will then automatically become better.”
Avatar Meher Baba, in The Path of Love, narrates, “An aura and a halo are two different things.... An aura is the reflection of the emotions of an individual mind, just as any physical thing possesses its shadow on the physical plane. The halo begins to appear when the aura begins to disappear.” People tend to think an aura is a visual thing, but Karim assures that there are basically three ways to sense it: seeing, feeling and knowing. “We sense things from the heart, then the mind, and then our emotions form emotional decisions,” says Karim. “These three things just happen very quickly. But be careful, it is easy to confuse the heart with the emotions. “It is not difficult to sense auras. It is purely a matter of sensitivity, and most importantly, trusting yourself.” However, if you think you are not gifted with clairvoyance yet, go and get your aura photographed with the biofeedback imaging system. It measures your living energy or what the scientists call electro-magnetic field. Whilst the first aura photograph was taken by the scientist Nikola Tesla in 1891, the recent developments of the 90’s have brought multicolour aura photography to life. This technique truly opens a new spectrum of perception into our inner worlds. “You can tell many things from one’s aura,” says Karim. “Health and emotional matters are just few of the examples. The aura colours symbolize different qualities, properties and dispositions of the physical, emotional and spiritual potential of man. Remember, there is no good or bad about the colours themselves. What is truly positive and negative are our deeds and thoughts. Each colour carries both positive and negative connotations. For example, red denotes the positive nuances of fire, passion, leadership, challenge, survival and beginning. However, if it remains unused, it will twirl to frustration and anger. Then when we use it, these negative aspects will naturally go away. “Interestingly, people from different cultures may misinterpret certain colours. For instance, western culture often associates green with envy. However, green, being the central colour of the visible spectrum, is a sign of balance, harmony, healing, negotiation, teaching and learning. Therefore the people I met would become relaxed and happy after learning about the true interpretation of the colours.” Mentioning spectrum, most of us tend to think of it as linear. Nevertheless, Karim reminds us that the colours actually form a circulation. “If you take red as the beginning and violet as the end, you will notice that violet partly comes from red,” he says. “You see, there is a vicious cycle in it. And when you add all colours together, you will get white. In other words, the colour white represents open-mindedness and win-win-win situation for it embraces all.” Having your own aura reading is a constructive gateway for it opens the window to your Self or your soul at the present moment. When you decide to have an aura photograph, Karim will also read and interpret your colours and tell you about your current state of being, your expressions, your potential and how you can help yourself. The steps are exceedingly simple, you just need to put your hands on the equipment, look into the camera. Joanna Lai

What Karim is insinuating here allures me to muse over a closely linked religious entity: halo. If you agree that an aura is the ethereal light emanation permeating all people and all things, it may not turn out to be confused with the aureoles or halos of saints for which they are vehicles of Christian iconography to suggest divine infusion. Alternatively, Buddha and other Buddhist saints are also widely depicted with aureoles or halos in Asia.
