Sergio Rossi Calls Home Eco-Fashionistas Calling all shoe loving eco-fashionistas! In tandem with the launch of Home, the latest film championing environmental issues by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and co-produced by Luc Besson and PPR, luxe shoe brand Sergio Rossi has created the Eco Pump. Made entirely from sustainable products and bio-degradable packaging, this must be the most fashionably ethical shoe we've ever seen. With help from Fraunhofer Institut, a world leader in the research of alternative materials dedicated to environmental solutions, new creative director Francesco Russo has found the perfect way to use sustainable products in shoe creation. Sergio Rossi's Eco pump uses a sole and heel made of liquid wood and is manufactured with minimal leather wastage. Thanks to a special compression process, the heel remains super strong. All materials used are biodegradable and even the leather tanner is eco-sensitive since it's vegetable dye. Part of the proceeds from Eco Pump will go towards the non-profit organization GoodPlanet.org, an association which develops awareness and education towards a more environmentally, socially and economically responsible way of living. The Eco Pump will be launched at select Sergio Rossi stores on June 5, 2009. Esther Ng
