Bamboo Sunglasses to Restore Sight The natural and stylish bamboo sunglasses with the sleek look not only stand out in the mass-produced and crowded marketplace, but they also have a deeper message behind those tinted lenses. Kayu designs (sunglasses and clutches) are all made from natural materials that are biodegradable, balancing beauty and sustainability. Sunglasses are handcrafted from bamboo, a fast-growing grass and alternative to wood. And clutches are made from shells and straw. Furthermore, indigenous artisans use techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation, preserving cultures and craftsmanship, as well as supporting communities on a financial basis. Jamie Lim, who launched the Kayu label (Kayu meaning “wood” in Malay), strives to keep the core principles of ecology and ethics in mind, adding another vital part to the business – charity. Seeing our responsibility to give back, she came up with the idea to help those less fortunate through the sale of Kayu products. So every time your purchase a pair of sunglasses, Kayu donates US$20 to fund a sight-restoring surgery in a developing country. And for every clutch purchased, the label donates US$15 to provide a child with a backpack and school supplies. Shopping has never been this meaningful...
1 Pair of Sunglasses = 1 Sight-Restoring Surgery
1 Handbag = 1 Backpack + School Supplies
