Get Yourself out of Your Mind and into the Present Often thoughts become too overpowering and the chatter in your head seems like an endless conversation. Get yourself out of your mind and into the present. To be fully here in the now also requires to be firmly grounded on the earth. To have your feet planted fully on the earth helps you to be more focused when you go about your day. Learn how to ground yourself in only a few minutes, a technique you can use anywhere anytime. You should start practicing at home, then later apply it when you’re sitting in the bus, walking down the street or even when you’re standing in a queue. Sit down comfortably in a chair (don’t cross your legs, as that will block the energy flow). Now focus on the energy in your heart and visualize how you’re taking the energy down, past the solar plexus, the sacral and root chakras, straight to the base of your spine. Now feel and see how a long cord from your spine continues down into the earth, all the way down to the centre of the earth. If you're feeling discomfort or resistance, move slowly. See your energy moving deeper and deeper into the core of this planet. Once in the centre, connect with earth’s energy and let it nurture and heal you. Perhaps you feel an energetic boost or perhaps you feel a cleansing effect. Stay with that for a minute and feel how the energy is merging and changing. When you're ready bring it all the way up again through Earth's layers, into your spine, through the root chakra, then sacral chakra, solar plexus and back into the heart. Feel the energy in your heart and know that you are fully connected to the Earth. Tip: Use the grounding meditation when you get up in the morning and before you go to bed. Many people soul travel during the night. Therefore, it is essential to ground yourself before you start your day. If you struggle with this exercise, it might mean that you have a resistance towards connecting more fully with the Earth. Give it time and acknowledge your feelings of discomfort etc. when connecting with it and just simply ease into it. Each time you do this meditation it will become easier, and you will feel more grounded and present.
