Experience True Luxury in the Australian Bush Located adjacent to the Blue Mountains, a Unesco World Heritage site, Emirates’ Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa is Australia’s first conservation-based resort, set to open October 1. Following the same principles of Dubai’s al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, it is fully integrated into its environment and the 40 free-standing suites only occupy two per cent of the 4,000 acres, offering guests a sense of freedom and room to breathe.
Wolgan Valley is very committed to protecting endangered wildlife and has planted more than 20,000 native trees (not a single tree was destroyed by the construction of the resort). Furthermore, it collects rainwater, recycles all domestic water, uses heat exchange technology to reduce electricity consumption, as well as solar panels for hot water systems.
The resort even makes use of traditional windmills instead of electrical pumps, and it significantly reduced its construction carbon footprint by employing local craftsmen and making use of locally sourced natural and recycled materials, such as the fallen ‘old wood’ trees from the reserve, whereas local ironsmiths created the resort’s lamp fittings and chandeliers. Knowing that, you’ll definitely sleep better. But should you still have trouble getting some shut-eye, perhaps a dip in your private swimming pool underneath the stars will do. An authentic experience, all within the comfort of luxury.
