Tasty, Gluten-Free Brew
The craft beer phenomenon has taken the world by storm, as socialites are swapping their champagne flutes for a bottle of micro-brewed beer.
Daas, the new Belgian organic brew has recently arrived on the Hong Kong scene. Totally gluten-free and certified Organic by the Soil Association, Daas beers deliver an uncompromised taste with a classic style.
In the past, gluten-free beer has been met with negativity and an assumption that the flavour is compromised, but Daas is on a mission to offer the finest Belgian beers to be enjoyed by everyone, including those who are gluten intolerant. And its latest release, Ambré, arrived shortly after the success of Daas’ first gluten-free Organic brew, the Blond.
The creation of Daas beers is the result of a long research process using the most advanced technology, and despite the de-glutonisation, consumers can still taste the very best of the quality hops and barley, unlike other gluten-free beers, which use rice, corn or sorghum to make beers. The team behind the brand firmly believes that using locally sourced hops and barley grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers makes the beers even more delicious. Plus the award winning handcrafted beers are the only brewed in Belgium to be certified Organic by the UK Soil Association.
All their beers are “Top Fermented Bottle Conditioned beers”, meaning that they undergo a second fermentation in the bottle, similar to Champagne production. Not only does this contribute to the overall quality and flavour of the beer, it also ensures that the liquid remains stable for longer than a pasteurized beer.
Daas Ambré is made from an exceptional blend of organic barley malts and pours a rich coppery amber colour with full beige head. Its roasted malt and ripe fruity aromas have notes of caramel, butterscotch and floral hops. The smooth palate combines deep malty flavours, vanilla and dark fruits. A generous, softly carbonated body with well rounded bitter sweetness ends in a creamy finish of dry hops and light clove spices.
Daas Blond is brewed purely from organic all-barley malts and is a live beer that pours a pale, hazy golden colour with a thinnish white head. It has an attractive aroma of toffee and honey complimented with a touch of spice and lively banana fruit esters. On the palate it is quite full and richly textured with coriander spice and cool lemony fruit. It also has some wheat beer characteristics with freshness and more than a little dry hoppy bite in the finish.
