Holistic Luxury Skincare with Gemstone Energies

A high-end skincare brand that means spirit, mind, heart and soul in Swedish, Själ was created by mother and daughter team Karen and Kristin Petrovich. Both being passionate about beauty, they saw a gap in the market for a luxury skincare line with a holistic approach and wanted to create simple yet effective products which matched their own health and healing perspective.

To create the most comprehensive and well-rounded products possible, the two decided to merge their personal interest and studies of Eastern and alternative medicines with Western biotechnology. The idea was to combine the latest in technology with the best ingredients and infuse the products with bio-osmotic energy from precious minerals and gemstones. Experts ranging from research scientists, biologists, herbalists, nutritionists and spiritual practioners were consulted, and this combined with Chinese, Tibetan, Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and Vibrational medicines provided the formulaic knowledge base for all Själ products. They also studied degenerative aging diseases such as AIDS, cancer and diabetes to seek out the most cutting-edge and progressive ideas for healing, repair and anti-aging to incorporate into their skincare line.

“Each product, especially the creams are very nutritionally complete, so they have all got their own list of anti-oxidants, lipids, amino acids, algae, peptides and minerals. We choose a universal stone or ones that made sense for the product, for example cleanser and toner, a stone with a cleansing, balancing and calming effect. This is how we have been developed our philosophy”, says Kristin. “Someone once said to me, our bodies are not keeping up with the rate in which the world is evolving. Now it’s only gotten worse, so much faster, not only world events and the environment but also stress-levels and the economy.”

Using over 45 active ingredients, the highest quality of pharmaceutical grade ingredients based on level of purity, origin and clinical studies are sourced and temporary lifts and fillers such as petroleum jelly, mineral oil, and silicone are banned to ensure healthy, breathable skin. Precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum and germanium, which are electro-stimulants, are added to each product since they function as semi-conductors to increase cellular productivity, performance and repair. This also leverages the effect of other active ingredients and the energy from different gemstones enhance and compliment the product. For example, stones used include diamond – activates microcirculation, improves skin clarity, helps removes blocks and draws toxicity out of the body; citrine – improves complexion by fighting against effects of stress and stimulates immune system; and amethyst – calming, stabilizing and reduces skin irritations.

Recently launched in Hong Kong are two new gemstone masks. The Pearl Enzyme Exfoliating Mask (HK$1,450/60ml) contains crushed pearl granules, mushroom and pomegranate enzymes for polishing and brightening skin tone while diamond, sapphire, ruby, amethyst, citrine and smithsonite energies help with skin clarity and balance. The Kashmir Saphir Perfecting Mask (HK$1,350/60ml) contains Chinese herbs, silk proteins, blue lotus and bio-chemical tissue salts for smoothing, lifting and pore minimization. Blue sapphire, which is believed to help stimulate the pituitary gland, helps with anti-aging through increased melatonin production.
