Gentle and Simple Two-Step Skincare

Back in 2004, New York-based Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz set out to create a new twist to traditional apothecaries and the unisex skincare brand Malin+Goetz was born. With simple and easy skincare solutions, this brand is available in Hong Kong and has been getting lots of buzz and rave reviews.

Based on a beauty ethos of balance and duality, the pair first started with 11 original products and now since has expanded the line to 50. Their products are known for being non-abrasive and packed with all-natural ingredients.

Suitable for both men and women, bottles are labelled in blue for face, green for body and red for hair. Catering to sensitive skin types and different complexions, theirs is a simple two-step regimen that concentrates on cleansing and moisturizing by using irritant-free and pH balanced ingredients. For example, cleansers use gentle amino acid-based cleansing agents, and moisturizers are oil-free and residue-free without greasy pore-clogging oils or waxes. Each formulation combines natural ingredients with a gentle touch to address skin sensitivities, irritations and allergies stemming from the use of harsh ingredients or too many products. This brand does not test on animals nor use unnecessary detergents, harsh or experimental ingredients, colorants, or synthetic perfumes.

Some recommended products to try during dry winter months are the Detox Face Mask and Lip Moisturizer. Deep-cleansing and hydrating, the Detox Face Mask (HK$355/118ml) is an easy five minute gel to foam mask that contains natural almond extract, Vitamin C & E and soy protein. A thick layer can be applied and tissued off upon oxygenation and this can be used in place of a daily cleanser once or twice a week. Lip Moisturizer (HK$99/10g) comes in a tube and is a lip gel designed to restore and repair while hydrating and protecting throughout the day by using fatty acids to penetrate and nourish. Best of all, this product has no petroleum and is fragrance, flavour and colour-free.
