Comfort-Food Cravings with a Conscience The latest hot spot to hit SoHo is Posto Pubblico, a restaurant with a ground breaking concept that encourages a socially and environmentally conscious attitude towards dining with locally produced food and sustainable resources. Founded by Cathal Kiely (founder of Solas), Todd Darling (founder of Wagyu) and Robert Spina, who brings old-world hospitality to the table, the trio aims to bring New York-Italian style food closer to Hong Kong, but with a low carbon footprint.
Highly passionate about reducing the environmental impact of their new dining place, the team has devoted 12 months to finding and nurturing relationships with local farmers in the New Territories and across the border, to develop a wider range of western vegetables and monitor the quality and integrity of the farming.
Signature dishes range from HK$30 to HK$220 and include traditional Grandma Pie (Pizza), yummy Veal Meatballs, Straw/Hay Tagliolini with peas and pancetta, as well as the classic Bucatini a’Matriciana, and to top it off, a delicious Limone Dessert. Don’t miss out on some of the fresh seasonal veg, and go for the Beets & Leaves, Ricotta Salata with Pine Nuts. And what would comfort-food be without fresh home-made Italian bread? Don’t despair, Posto Pubblico has it all. Whoever misses Mamma’s cooking should definitely give it a try. Posto Pubblico serves lunch (12pm – 3pm) and dinner (6pm – 11pm), as well as weekend brunch (from January 2010).
