Korean Beauty in Hong Kong

Korean beauty brand Sulwhasoo has reached deep into their pockets to set up the HK$20 million four-storey spa on Canton Road, Hong Kong. The end result of the first spa outside Korea meets every single criteria though; luxury at its finest.

The 7,200 square feet palace includes 9 treatments rooms, sauna and 2 VIP suites on the top floor. Customers can choose from a range of facials and body massage treatments, which all incorporate the natural and healthy Sulwhasoo products. Currently the spa only caters to women, but with the new Sulwhasoo men’s product line, the spa might add some men’s treatments to their repertoire soon.

The Warm Amber Meridian Massage started off with a choice of three scents (Agilawood, Pine and Sandalwood). I chose Agilawood, which was then diffused in the treatment room, creating a very soothing and calming effect.

The session continued with a foot bath/scrub, followed by the meridian massage, which helped detoxify the body and unblock certain energy centres. The oil for the massage was made of a base oil, mixed with Jaeumdan and Jaeumboweedan ingredients. These Oriental herbs help soften, nourish and energize the skin.

After the meridian massage the therapist used two warm amber stones in form of yin yang symbols to massage the body and improve the flow of energy through the heat and the pressure. At the end of the treatment the therapist asked me to release the toxins and excessive air through toning of the word “hiiiie”, which seemed very effective.

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and well trained (everyone undergoes 2 weeks of training in Korea), and the products are light, leaving you relaxed, yet energized.

The Warm Amber Meridian Massage costs HK$1,950 and takes 90mins; a must for busy, hardworking women, who don’t set aside enough time for themselves. Pamper yourself with a treatment that we’ll ease the flow of your heavy workload.
